Cookie Policy

What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files a website asks your browser to keep. They let the site remember things between visits — like that you’ve already entered an invite code, or who sent you the link that brought you here.
Which cookies we use
We use functional, analytics, and authentication cookies. No ads. No cross-site tracking.
| Name | Type | Purpose | TTL |
|---|---|---|---|
| anka_waitlist_token | Strictly necessary | Set when you join the waitlist so you can return to your own waitlist page without re-entering your email. Technical artefact of an action you explicitly took. | 1 year |
| anka_cookie_consent | Strictly necessary | Remembers your decision on the cookie banner so we don’t ask again next visit. | 12 months |
| sb-*-auth-token, sb-*-refresh-token | Third-party (auth) | Supabase Auth session — set when you sign in. Required for the product to work. | Session + 7 days |
| anka_ref | Functional | Remembers who referred you so the person who shared the link gets credit when you join. Only set if you choose "Allow all". | 60 days |
| _ga | Analytics | Google Analytics — aggregate site usage statistics. First-party, anonymised. Only set if you choose "Allow all". | 2 years |
| _gid | Analytics | Google Analytics — daily session segmentation. First-party, anonymised. Only set if you choose "Allow all". | 24 hours |
Your choices
On your first visit a small banner offers two options:
- Allow all — every cookie above is set: the functional one that credits whoever shared the link with you, plus the analytics cookies that show us how people find Stird in aggregate.
- Only essentials — we skip the functional and analytics cookies. Your session and your waitlist spot still work; what you lose is referral credit for whoever shared the link, and we lose visibility into aggregate site usage.
Authentication cookies (Supabase) and the waitlist-recovery cookie are strictly necessary for what you explicitly asked us to do (sign in, hold your spot), so they’re set regardless of consent — this is what UK ePrivacy guidance allows.
You can change your decision at any time:
You can also clear cookies from your browser settings — every modern browser has a control panel for this under Privacy.
A note on what we don’t do
We collect functional data and aggregate, first-party analytics. We don’t run ad cookies, we don’t track you across other sites, and we don’t share or sell your data with advertisers.
Changes to this policy
If we add a new cookie or change why we use an existing one, we’ll update this page and bump the date at the top. If the change introduces a new category (like analytics), the consent banner will reappear so you can decide again.
